MateSel
Instructions for MateSel
Brian and Sandy Kinghorn
Matesel is used to drive your breeding program. It makes
selection and mating recommendations that can be used for a wide range of
activities associated with breeding programs. See section An
introduction to Mate Selection near the end of this document for more detail on
what MateSel does.
These instructions cover operation of the three versions of MateSel:
Windows desktop version
Web version
Batch version: Command line batch
versions for Windows and Linux
The first two of these provide a graphical user interface
(GUI) that enables editing of parameters or changing the goal posts during the
run, providing opportunity to discover what can be achieved across the many
issues involved. They also help illustrate outcomes that are not desirable. The
last version is useful for widespread and/or very frequent runs, where
parameter settings are thought to be appropriate and there is little time to
spend on each run.
The interfaces for the Windows and Web versions are similar.
Most of the illustrations in this help file come from the Windows version, and
are similar to what you should see in the Web version.
